Newsletter

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope that all of you had a wonderful weekend. We had a great week last week. I am looking forward to another great week of learning.

Last week we read about “Strange Creatures That Really Lived.” We also watched a national geographic video about dinosaurs. In Math, we continued to cover adding and subtracting decimals. In English/Writing, we finished up with nouns. We took a test over all types of nouns. In science, we finished up talking about renewable and nonrenewable resources. We ended the week with our class party for winning the candy drive. The class had so much fun.

This week we will be reading about the tyrannosaurus and the wooly mammoth. We will also be doing a fun project about dinosaurs. In Math, we will begin with lesson 51. In English/Writing, we will start talking about verbs. We will also have a review list for spelling this week. I had 19 star spellers last week. That means 19 students who made a 100 or higher on their spelling test.

Several things are coming up in the near future. The Thanksgiving Feast is the first thing on the list. Our 4th grade class is responsible for bringing the gravy. I would like for each student to bring in a jar of gravy for the feast. Please send in a jar with a lid or a can with a pull up top.

The Christmas program will be the next thing on the list. I will give you dates and times for that ASAP. Our class will be performing “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” We already have several ideas for our performance, but any ideas that you may have would be welcomed. Also, if any one wants to volunteer to help with hair and costumes, that would be great. I am really excited about this performance. We have already started practicing the music. I hope that each of you will make plans to join us.
